The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Verizon Wireless is working in partnership with Google to create a competitor to Apple’s iPad.

Tablets are part of the “next big wave of opportunities,” Mr. McAdam said in an interview. He said the work on a tablet is part of a deepening relationship between the largest U.S. wireless carrier by subscribers and Google, which has carved out a space in mobile devices with its Android operating system.

There has not yet been a set date as to when Google and Verizon will release their Tablet, nor has their been any confirmation as to which manufacturer will produce it.

In order for this device to become successful there needs to be a dramatic decrease in price to what Apple is selling the iPad for. Also, Google will need to “Wow the crowds” with the Android operating system, as the iPad’s OS has quickly become a hit with customers.
