It’s a question that has haunted people for years now. Has access to the Internet helped or hindered us? I suppose it depends on who you ask. For folks that work in IT, software development, technology writing, or other related fields, the Internet has been a provider of opportunity.

Yet despite these benefits, it seems that we have lost touch with simple things that we used to take for granted. A conversation on the phone, a trip to the library, ordering from a catalog — the list keeps going. But things that we might consider annoying now were once considered a pleasure.

What say you? Do you feel that life has changed for the better or, perhaps, for the worse due to the advance of Internet access in our daily lives? For me personally, I must admit that much of my work life is spent on online. But to counter this, I have been making a concerted effort to keep my free time offline as to enjoy things outside of computers once in a while.
