By default, Windows 7 displays icons only on the Taskbar. This means that there are no labels for any open files or applications. Some people may find it difficult to know what is what just based on the icon. If so, you can configure Windows 7 to display a button label, the same as previous versions of Windows, on the Taskbar.
To display labels on the Taskbar in Windows 7:
- Right-click an empty area on the Taskbar and select Properties.
- Under the Taskbar buttons section and use the drop down arrow to select the Always combine, hide labels to Never combine option.
