PowerPoint comes with predefined color palettes that represent the basic color schemes for slides. You can also create custom color schemes. A color palette in PowerPoint can be copied over the Excel, thereby making the same colors available within Excel.

To copy a color palette:

  1. Within PowerPoint, click the Microsoft Office button.
  2. Point to Save As and select Other Formats.
  3. From the Save As drop down, select Office Theme (*.THMX). PowerPoint opens to the appropriate folder (Documents and Settings UserName Application Data Microsoft Templates Document Themes).
  4. Click Save.
  5. Within Excel, click Page Layout and click Themes. The theme you saved in step 3 will be available from the list. Selecting the theme applies the colors, fonts and effects from the PowerPoint theme to the Excel file.
