There should be an image here! With the success seen with the iPad and iPhone, there has been quite a push for alternatives to the official App Store as we know it. Different alternatives have been met with various success. Most of them are appearing with jailbroken iPhones.

Today we have another alternative to the standard Apple App Store. Enter the OpenAppMkt. Designed to use HTML app options for “apps” on the iPhone, it is speculated that this could change everything on the app front.

Speaking for myself, I don’t believe this changes anything. Despite the annoying walled garden, Apple can in theory provide better app security than something that is wild and based on no real checks involved. So for my money, despite the hassles, an official app store could very well be the safer bet.
