As with previous versions of Office, you can customize default settings in Office 2010 so the settings match your preferences. In fact, customizing the default settings is something I recommend all users do with new installations of Office, regardless of versions.
For example, you can customize proofing options such as AutoCorrect. You can customize the Save settings to change the default location for saving document. You can also customize autorecovery settings so your documents are saved more frequently.
To access the plethora of default settings within Office 2010, open any office application. From the File menu, click Options. From the window that appears, click each option from the list to see the various customizable settings associated with each one.
