There should be an image here!Personally, I find AutoPlay a bit annoying. When I insert a CD, Windows opens a window with a bunch of information that I really don’t care about. My preference is to insert a CD and navigate to what I’m looking for.

AutoPlay is simple to disable. The only catch is that it requires you to make a change to the Windows Registry, as described below.

  1. Open the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to the following registry key: HKLM Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Policies Explorer.
  3. Create a new DWORD value and name it NoDriveTypeAutoRun.
  4. Set the value to 000000FF.

You can always re-enable AutoPlay by deleting the DWORD value you created in step 3.
