Just as the buzz surrounding Google Fiber begins to tame down a bit, we see this sought after Internet access making its way into the news once again. According to this article, technicians had to physically ski into the affected areas where hunters had apparently shot parts of the network.
Perhaps its a reflection of just how vast parts of the northwest truly are — it’s difficult to say. One thing is for sure: the first responders to the down fiber connections affected by the hunters are likely some of the geekiest outdoors types that ski to a remote location like that.
So how bad was it? How about three days of cross country skiing while backpacking equipment to take care of the damaged fiber. Yeah, it’s pretty wild when you think about it.
