Of all the automobile brands still on the market today, Buick is perhaps most regarded as the brand for old folks. General Motors (GM) consolidated this market when they shuttered the Oldsmobile brand back in 2004. Facing realities of late, GM has been busily refocusing Buick on a younger demographic, with a range of new vehicles. The 2011 Buick Regal stands as shining evidence of that effort.

Beneath the badges, the 2011 Buick Regal is an Opel Insignia. It’s currently being built in Russelsheim, Germany and is considered one of the best sedans in its class in Europe. If the Regal takes off, production may move here to the States.

The new Regal isn’t your Grampa’s big ol’ classic American Buick. It’s not big, it’s not old, and it’s not built in America… but it just might stand a chance of being considered as a classic as time goes by.
