Looks like Facebook is about to trade in its spandex for Yandex. The Yandex Russian search engine has apparently inked a content deal with Facebook that places Facebook content into its Web site’s results.
What this means for the rest of us is that we have an example of a search engine, making Facebook content available outside of Facebook’s walled garden. This could get interesting.
Worse, is that by doing so, Facebook is granting an all access pass to the search engine and clicking on the Facebook option appears to grant Yandex access to account data. Can you imagine trying to do this with Google? I know I certainly couldn’t!
