The Windows Phone 7 forums were abuzz with frustrated users who couldn’t believe there wasn’t a way to sync local Outlook data with their brand new $200  phones. I mean, the devices are made by Microsoft. Everybody expected it to have this capability out of the box. Microsoft wants you to put your data in its Hotmail/Live cloud though, so it left this functionality out.

Luckily, CompanionLink has released an app that will sync local Outlook Tasks, Contacts and Calendar data. Outlook versions 2000 and higher are supported. The software has a 14 day trial, but after that it will cost you $39.95. Judging from the people who were clamoring for this functionality, it’s well worth it.
