Another new feature in Word 2010 is the Background Removal Tool. The tool narrows the gap between word processor and image editor. In a nutshell, if you insert a picture that has a background, the tool removes the background surrounding the picture.

There should be an image here!

To use the Background Removal Tool:

  1. Insert an image into your Word document.
  2. From the Picture Tools tab, select the Background Removal Tool. Word detects and highlights the image background.
  3. Press Enter and the unwanted background is removed.
