Often times when I create a document, I forget to add in the page numbers. Instead of trying to remember, I created default page numbering for all my documents by editing the Normal template.

- First, open the Normal.dotm template by click the Microsoft Office button and clicking Open.
- Click Templates and double click the Normal.dotm file.
- From within the Normal.dotm file, click the Insert tab.
- Click Page Number and choose the location and format for the page numbers.
- Close and save Normal.dotm.
Now any documents will use the page numbering you specified.
