You can keep an area of your worksheet visible while you scroll through the rest of your worksheet. This is done by freezing specific rows and columns. For example, if the top row contains labels (column titles), you can freeze that row so the labels remain visible while you scroll down the spreadsheet.

To freeze the top row in Excel 2010:

  1. Within your worksheet, select the row that you want to keep visible.
  2. On the View tab, within the Window group, click the drop down arrow beside Freeze Panes.
