Google has announced that Kansas City, Kansas will be the city chosen for the company to roll out its high speed Internet network. The annoucnement was made on the Google Blog this morning.
After a careful review, today we’re very happy to announce that we will build our ultra high-speed network in Kansas City, Kansas. We’ve signed a development agreement with the city, and we’ll be working closely with local organizations, businesses and universities to bring a next-generation web experience to the community.
Over 1,000 cities were waiting to see if their city was to be chosen. Having a network 100 times faster than anything else available is a major boon for Kansas City, KS, which has seen some difficult times the past few decades. It’ll be interesting to see the effects this has on the city.
