If you missed the first ridiculous HP firesale for its TouchPad, you will have another opportunity to try again. This time it will be just a little different since HP will be trying to sell off its refurbished TouchPad models for the same firesale pricing. The 16 GB TouchPad model will be selling for $99 and the 32 GB TouchPad will be selling for $149. There will also be an accessory pack available for $79 and will include:

  • Case
  • Charging Dock
  • Wireless Keyboard

Another HP TouchPad Firesale? The sale starts this Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 6:00 pm Central Time on the HP eBay site. There is going to be a strict limit of two of the tablets per eBay client. Also, you will need a PayPal account in order to purchase the TouchPad. If you want to grab one of these units, I would suggest having both an eBay account and PayPal account before you try to purchase a unit.

This made me wonder: Are other companies going to put their units on firesale? Maybe this is a good time to wait to see what happens. I personally believe that purchasing a tablet with the Google Android operating system would be a better option than an HP with webOS. Even now, a group of developers is in the alpha stages of porting Android to the HP TouchPad. We are currently in a two horse race with Apple and its iOS and Google’s Android operating system in commanding leads. Until Microsoft comes out with Metro, I personally believe that webOS is doomed.

I hope this will close the book on the HP TouchPad and it will be buried in peace and forgotten.

Comments welcome.
