Redmi's K100 Keeps the K90's Chip, Adds 2,900mAh of Battery and Drops Its Telephoto Camera
Xiaomi's Redmi K100 launched in China with a 10,000mAh battery and the same Snapdragon 8 Elite as last year's K90, while the K90's 2.5x telephoto is gone and the phone got bigger and heavier.

“The Redmi K100 has gone official in China with a massive 10,000mAh battery,” Siddharth wrote at GSMArena. It has a 6.83-inch 165Hz screen rated up to 3,200 nits, 100W charging, an IP69K rating, and it runs “Android 17-based HyperOS 4.”
The processor is last year’s. GSMArena’s K100 spec sheet lists the same Snapdragon 8 Elite part number, SM8750-AB, as the K90’s, which Redmi announced on October 23, 2025.
The camera bump got simpler. The K100 has “a dual-rear camera setup with a 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide camera,” per GSMArena. The K90 had a third lens, a 50MP telephoto with “2.5x optical zoom.” Redmi’s launch didn’t make a point of the missing lens.
The battery has to live somewhere. The K100 is 8.7mm thick and weighs “234.5 g (8.29 oz),” against the K90’s 8mm and “206 g (7.27 oz).” Its screen grew from 6.59 inches to 6.83.
What it costs depends on who you read. GSMArena reports a “starting price of CNY 3,499 ($525) for the 12GB/256GB variant.” Notebookcheck says “The starting price is CNY 2,999, about $450.” The K90 started at “CNY 2,599 (≈ $360),” per Nokiamob. Whether the lower K100 figure is a launch promotion or the list price, neither outlet says.

Honor’s rival came out a week earlier. The WIN Turbo2’s “8+256GB 版本:3199 元” (8GB/256GB version: CNY 3,199) carries a “12070mAh 巨无霸青海湖电池” (a 12,070mAh “jumbo” battery) with “90W 有线快充” (90W wired fast charging), IT之家 reported on October 21. The vivo Y600 has the same 10,000mAh at CNY 1,999 with a slower chip and 44W charging.
If the race keeps going, the next ceiling is weight, not capacity. At 234.5 grams the K100 is already past most flagships, and a 12,000mAh phone in a 6.8-inch body is the shape the category is settling into. The phone that wins the next round is the one that finds another 2,000mAh without gaining 30 more grams.
For anyone who manages devices, a reused flagship chip is good news on paper: known drivers, known thermals and a year of bug fixes behind it. The catch is the clock, since the chip’s age counts against the support window the moment the phone ships.
The next thing to watch is whether the K100 shows up outside China under the Poco name, as earlier K-series phones have, and whether that version gets its telephoto back.
