Motorola's Moto G47 Power Keeps the Headphone Jack and Grows to a 7,000mAh Battery, but Ships on Android 16
Motorola launched the Moto G47 Power in Europe at €339 and £299 with a 7,000mAh battery, 30W charging and a 3.5mm jack, running Android 16 months after Android 17 came out.

“Motorola has just made the Moto G47 Power official in Europe,” GSMArena wrote, and it was quick to set expectations: “It’s not a successor to the Moto G47 that launched back in April.” It’s the same phone with a bigger battery and the weight that comes with it.
The battery is the whole pitch. It goes from 5,200mAh in the G47 to 7,000mAh, and Motorola claims up to 78 hours of use. Charging moves from 20W to 30W, and the phone can top up another device over a cable at 6W. The cost shows on a scale: “the new phone measures 166.23x76.5x8.89mm and weighs 215g, while the G47 is 7.9mm thick and weighs 191g.”
Everything else is budget-phone standard. A 6.67-inch 720p LCD runs at 120Hz and peaks at 1,050 nits under Gorilla Glass 7i. A MediaTek Dimensity 6300 does the work with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, plus a microSD slot. There’s a 108MP main camera with a 2MP macro and an 8MP selfie camera. It has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, IP64 dust and splash resistance, a MIL-STD-810H rating, NFC and a side fingerprint reader. The colors are Capri, Nautical Blue and Impenetrable.
The software is the catch. GSMArena put it bluntly: “it disappointingly runs Android 16 out of the box, even though Android 17 was released by Google months ago.”
Here’s what changes against the G47 it’s based on, Motorola’s own cheaper 7,000mAh phone, and a rival that trades the jack for speed:
| Moto G47 Power | Moto G47 | Moto G37 Power | Poco X8s | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Battery | 7,000mAh | 5,200mAh | 7,000mAh | 6,330mAh |
| Wired charging | 30W | 20W | 30W | 100W |
| Reverse charging | 6W wired | — | 6W wired | 22.5W |
| Thickness, weight | 8.89mm, 215g | 7.9mm, 191g | — | about 8.06mm |

The G37 Power figures come from GSMArena’s April report, which listed “a 7,000 mAh battery, which supports 30W wired charging and 6W reverse wired charging,” on the same Dimensity 6300 and Android 16. The Poco X8s figures come from Beebom’s report on its Vietnam launch, where it has “6,330mAh battery with 100W fast charging.” A dash means the source didn’t give it.
What Motorola didn’t say: how many Android versions or years of security patches the G47 Power gets, whether a version with more than 4GB of RAM is coming, or what the 78-hour figure assumes.
The G47 Power lands in a crowded tier where battery, not speed, is the argument. Motorola’s own G37 Power already offered the same 7,000mAh and 30W in April, so the G47 Power’s case rests on its 108MP camera against the G37 Power’s 50MP. What Motorola tells buyers about updates, if it ever does, is the number to watch.
