Interstate ’76 gets a Godot rebuild with co-op and an F12 trip back to 1997
I26 replaces Interstate ’76’s engine, adds online campaign co-op and lets players switch to its original-graphics mode with F12. You supply the original game data.

F12 is a pleasingly small answer to an argument remasters keep having. I26’s README says you can toggle the original graphics at any time, while the replacement engine runs in Godot.
The feature list includes modern multiplayer netcode, online co-op for the campaign and scenarios, a 3D map editor and a garage with respraying. The project’s README lists those features alongside the installation instructions.
The practical catch comes before the first drive: “I26 contains no game data”, the README says. It looks for a GOG installation, accepts copied game directories, or can unpack the GOG offline backup installers placed in its own directory. Its free GPLv3 engine still needs your legal copy of the game.
