REDMAGIC 12 Pro puts an 8,400mAh battery behind a 185Hz gaming screen
The predecessor has 7,500mAh, while a rival's own specification shows why a maximum refresh figure needs its mode and game context.

An 8,400mAh battery makes the phone’s capacity boast unusually easy to compare with its predecessor. REDMAGIC lists 7,500mAh for the 11 Pro, giving the new model 900mAh more on the manufacturers’ stated capacities.
The arithmetic is 900 / 7,500 = 12 percent. That is a capacity increase, and it should stay a capacity increase. Calling it twelve percent more gaming time would require the same workload and measured power consumption. The battery has enough work without also being assigned imaginary test results.
The 12 Pro product page pairs that battery with a 6.85-inch, 2688 × 1216 AMOLED panel and a refresh rate up to 185Hz. It lists both wired and wireless charging up to 80W. The word up is doing useful work in those claims.
| Published comparison | REDMAGIC 12 Pro | REDMAGIC 11 Pro | ROG Phone 9 Pro | iPhone 18 Pro Max |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Battery figure used here | 8,400mAh | 7,500mAh | No cross-model runtime calculation | No cross-model runtime calculation |
| Display detail | Up to 185Hz | See predecessor specification | Up to 185Hz in Game Genie | Different platform; check wanted games |
| Useful limitation | Panel rate alone is not game output | Capacity is not endurance | Highest mode is explicitly qualified | Video-playback rating is not a gaming test |
The 11 Pro page supplies the matching battery quantity. ASUS’s ROG Phone 9 Pro specification adds a useful reality check: its highest display mode is labeled “185Hz in Game Genie.” A maximum panel rate can arrive with conditions attached.
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro page uses a video-playback endurance claim for the Pro Max. That figure cannot be divided into REDMAGIC’s battery capacity to produce a useful gaming comparison. Milliamps and movie hours have declined to attend the same arithmetic lesson.
A buyer can evaluate the phone against the games actually played. Check supported modes, graphics settings and sustained behavior in those titles. A panel capable of more refreshes can still display repeated or generated frames, and a specification alone does not identify which path a game uses.
REDMAGIC’s own page distinguishes frame-generation and super-resolution features from the panel specification. Its laboratory results are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements by this desk. Those categories deserve separate labels whenever a performance chart puts their numbers close together.
Regional pricing and availability also need checking on the selected storefront. The global page warns that they vary. This launch comparison does not establish a US sale date or a current US purchase price, so an import decision would need more than the global headline.
For someone already satisfied with an 11 Pro, the battery difference alone leaves the upgrade question open. For someone shopping for a 12 Pro, the next useful check measures their games in a supported region at the settings they want to use.
The screen still needs game cooperation.
